Bukhar ki Dua/Prayer for Healing in Arabic

Narrated by Hazrat Aishah said,
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to a sick person, he would make supplication for him, and would say:

أَذْهِبْ الْبَاسْ رَبَّ النَّاسْ،‏‏‏‏ وَاشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي،‏‏‏‏ لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
Adhhibil-bas, Rabban-nas, washfi Antash-Shafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uka shifa’an la yughadiru saqama

Bukhar ki Dua/Prayer for Healing in English

The dua for fever, known as the prayer for healing, is very important in seeking relief from illness in Islam. In English it is as follows:

Take away the pain, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing that leaves no trace of sickness

Bukhar ki Dua/Prayer for Healing in Urdu

In Islam bukhar ki dua is deeply valued as a means to seek Allah’s mercy and relief from sickness. In Urdu, it can be recited as follows:

اے لوگوں کے رب! تو بیماری دور فرما، اور صحت عطا کر، تو ہی صحت عطا کرنے والا ہے، شفاء اور صحت وہی ہے جو تو عطا کرے، تو ایسی شفاء عطا کر کہ پھر کوئی بیماری باقی نہ رہ جائے ۔

Islamic Perspective on Illness

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.”
Dua for fever/bukhar ki dua is an act of worship and a means of showing trust in the Almighty. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the importance of making dua in the time of illness. Illness is considered a test from Allah, and bearing it with patience gives great rewards.

Additional Islamic Methods for Healing

Night Prayer (Tahajjud):

Perform the night prayer and make sincere duas for healing.

Charity (sadaqah):

Give charity because it is believed to protect against disasters and disease.

Patience and Faith:

Have faith in Allah’s plan. Remember that every ailment serves as the forgiveness for crimes. 

Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah):

Repeating phrases such as “SubhanAllah” (Glory be to Allah), “Alhamdulillah” (All praise is due to Allah), and “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest) can help relax the mind and soul, reducing stress and anxiety caused by illness.

Salat-ul-Hajat (Prayer for Needs):

Performing Salat-ul-Hajat and praying to Allah for relief from illness can be quite useful. This unique prayer is a way to request Allah’s help and guidance in times of need.

Istighfar (seeking forgiveness):

Regularly requesting Allah’s forgiveness can purify the heart and soul, and it is thought to help remove hardships and sicknesses.

Benefits of Prayer for Healing

Making a healing prayer provides many religious and psychological advantages. This act of worship also provides psychological relief by giving trust and reducing the fear associated with illness.
Furthermore, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated in a hadith that suffering illness and making prayers for healing can result in sins being expiated.
It also develops social connections when family and friends gather to pray for the sick person’s recovery and offer emotional support. Finally, dua serves as a reminder that Allah provides everlasting healing.
