Umm Salama narrated that The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) visited Abu Salama as he died. His eyes remained fixedly open. He shut them and replied,
“When the soul is taken away, the sight follows it”. Some members of his family cried and wailed. So he answered, “Do not pray for yourselves anything but beneficial, for angels will say Amen to whatever you say.” He then prayed:
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِأَبِي سَلَمَةَ وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ فِي الْمَهْدِيِّينَ وَاخْلُفْهُ فِي عَقِبِهِ فِي الْغَابِرِينَ وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ وَافْسَحْ لَهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ وَنَوِّرْ لَهُ فِيهِ
Allahummaghfir li Abi Salamata, warfa’ darajatahu fil mahdiyeen, wakhlufhu fi ‘aqibihi fil ghaabireen, waghfir lana wa lahu ya Rabbal ‘Aalameen, wafsah lahu fi qabrihi, wa nawwir lahu feehi.

“O Allah, forgive Abu Salamah, elevate his status among the guided, replace him with a worthy descendant among those who remain, forgive us and him, O Lord of the worlds. Make his grave spacious and grant him light in it.”

اے اللہ! ابو سلمہ کو بخش دے، اس کا درجہ ہدایت یافتہ لوگوں میں بلند فرما، اس کے بعد آنے والوں میں اس کا جانشین بن، ہمیں اور اسے بخش دے، اے رب العالمین! اس کی قبر کو کشادہ کر دے اور اس میں روشنی فرما۔

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّهِ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الْأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ وَأَبْدِلْهُ دَارًا خَيْرًا مِنْ دَارِهِ وَأَهْلًا خَيْرًا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ وَزَوْجًا خَيْرًا مِنْ زَوْجِهِ وَأَدْخِلْهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ
O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, keep him safe and pardon him, honor his resting place, widen his entry, wash him with water, snow and ice, and cleanse him of sin as a white garment is cleansed of dirt. Give him a home better than his home, a family better than his family, and a spouse better than his spouse. Admit him to Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave (and the Fire).
اے اللہ! اسے بخش دے، اس پر رحم فرما، اسے عافیت دے، اسے معاف فرما، اس کی میزبانی کریم بنا، اس کی قبر کشادہ کر، اسے پانی، برف اور اولوں سے دھو دے، اسے گناہوں سے اس طرح پاک کر دے جیسے سفید کپڑا میل سے صاف ہوتا ہے، اسے اس کے گھر سے بہتر گھر عطا کر، اہل خانہ سے بہتر اہل خانہ، اور بیوی سے بہتر بیوی عطا فرما، اور اسے جنت میں داخل فرما اور قبر کے عذاب سے بچا۔

Dua for Deceased Parents
رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.
اے میرے رب! ان دونوں پر رحم فرما جیسا کہ انہوں نے مجھے بچپن میں پالا

Dua for All Deceased
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا
O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females.
اے اللہ! ہمارے زندہ اور مردہ، حاضر اور غائب، چھوٹے اور بڑے، مرد اور عورت سب کو بخش دے

Why Should We Pray for the Deceased
In Islam, the deeds of a person end with their death, except for three things:
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
إِذَا مَاتَ الْإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ: إِلَّا مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ، أَوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ، أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ
Idha mata al-insanu inqata’a ‘anhu ‘amaluhu illa min thalath: illa min sadaqatin jariyah, aw ‘ilmin yuntafa’u bihi, aw waladin salihin yad’u lahu.
When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them.
جب انسان مر جاتا ہے تو اس کے تمام اعمال ختم ہو جاتے ہیں، سوائے تین چیزوں کے: صدقہ جاریہ، وہ علم جس سے فائدہ اٹھایا جائے، اور نیک اولاد جو اس کے لیے دعا کرے
